What is Reiki?
Reiki is a form of touch therapy that the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine as the National Institute of Health classifies as "biofield therapy" or "energy medicine". Because of its fast, dramatic results, documented in an increasing number of research studies, Reiki is one of the fastest growing complementary modalities in the world. Reiki is now used not only by individuals but also in hundreds of hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, spas and alternative medicine clinics throughout the United States and Canada. Reiki is an energy healing treatment that works holistically; on the whole body, mind and spirit. Reiki is a relaxing treatment whereas natural healing energy and vibration is transmitted through the hands of a Reiki practitioner to the body of the recipient. The purpose of a Reiki treatment is to relieve stress and pain, induce relaxation, to release emotional blockages, accelerate natural healing, balance subtle energies and support other medical modalities.
We now know that the body is not just a physical machine, but a dynamic energy system, constantly affected by and responding to a variety of influences from personal stress, traumatic experience, environmental pollutants and the food we eat.
